Avant Garde are inventing an effortlessly stylish dance theatre all of their own. In The Bunker Thing they created one of those unforgettable experiences that remind you why you loved theatre in the first place.
(Eddie Nixon, Artistic Director, The Place)
This site-specific, multi-media work makes imaginative use of an atmospheric East London bunker to explore notions of societal suppression.
In the hands of AG the underground maze of rooms and passageways presents an opportunity to create a captivating new world of phantasmagoria. This is an interactive, gritty realm where sub-cultures thrive and the spectator becomes part of the spectacle. Each audience member has a different experience but all get a taste of exquisite movement, surreal visual imagery and a pitch perfect soundtrack.
