Avant Garde Dance were selected and commissioned by FIFA to choreograph and perform the opening act of the 2024 FIFA The Best Awards Ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the world’s best players and coaches including winners Aitana Bonmati, Vinicius Jr and Carlo Ancelotti.
The commission was to celebrate the success and achievements of the Women’s World Cup in 2023 hosted by Australia and New Zealand, and Avant Garde were introduced to the stage by Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry.
A dynamic dance piece shaped by precision, flair and expressive storytelling.
The commission involved collaboration with FIFA’s entertainment team to create a dynamic dance piece with an all-female team of fifteen dancers, leading the creative direction for costume design, lighting, and editing. Avant Garde also developed the narrative text used within the piece, ensuring it resonated with the event’s celebration of female athletes and the success of the World Cup the year prior.

Creative directed and choreographed by Tony Adigun, the FIFA × AGD collaboration fused cinematic direction, precise formations, freestyle flair and expressive storytelling.
