Welcome to AG2, a cohort of young dancers meticulously selected by Avant-Garde through a competitive audition process.
Our programme is designed to provide opportunities for young dancers to train and develop as performers, choreographers, and understand the unique dance language of Avant Garde through the fusion of hip-hop, contemporary, and physical theatre.
Looking to advance your career in dance? AG2 offers a program for young creatives to develop their skills and prepare for the professional industry. Here’s what to expect:
During this 2-year programme, participants will receive expert support and mentoring on how to progress in the industry, as well as regular intensive training to understand the unique dance language and creative methodology of Avant Garde through the fusion of hip-hop, contemporary, and physical theatre; dancers will also be supported to build their CVs through opportunities to perform professionally.
This programme has been designed for a strictly limited number of participants, allowing us to maximise the impact felt by each participant, and open them up to what it is like working within a touring, artist-led dance organisation.
– Year 2 is fully focused on performance opportunities with rehearsals scheduled as and when required + one 4-day intensive each term normally over a weekend.
Dani’s work is heavily focused on intrepid movement, performance intensity and honouring artistic integrity.
He reforms and restructures movement from many dance styles to create a unique and distinctive dance language.
Stefano’s focus is finding the Grand, Epic and Majestic character within your movement while further developing individual vocabulary and discipline.
He draws from his influences in Hip-Hop/Contemporary background as well as playing on the strengths of the artists in the room to create a unique collective piece.
Ajani focuses on the music as his initial stimulant for creation. Exploring an integral correlation between the polyphonic rhythmic structures and movement.
Ajani’s aim for AG2 is to celebrate and integrate each company member’s abilities, whilst refining their musical awareness with textures and articulation.
Emma pulls choreography from an elemental place: often water-like and experimental. Regardless of the style and concept, Emma often plays with the vision of a broken doll, chic yet vulnerable, ethereal yet grounded.
She also works to refine and progress the use of floor work in the company, particularly with musicality, attention to timbre of sounds and dynamic range. .
The floating mover, smooth, always in the zone and loves his coffee.
A soft intricate mover influenced by music that always finds the fun in things and enjoys seeing people laugh and smile.
A curious and eclectic mover, inspired by sound and the abstract. Beth was previously a member of Avant Garde Youth Company, welcome back Beth.
The funky, innovative rising star, who spends most his time eating biscuits and milly rocking unprovoked.
