Get Involved is a unique, high-quality 6-week programme of dance, football, fitness, and wellbeing. Lessons are tailored for school students aged 11 – 18. Designed to support schools and young people in East London both in and out of lockdown, delivered by world-class professionals.
The physical, mental, and emotional impact of lockdown on our young people is yet to be fully understood, however, what we do know is that fun and engaging physical activity is a vital contributor to positive physical and mental wellbeing. This FREE programme offers sports-based fitness and conditioning classes tailored for all fitness levels, dance-based choreography, and movement classes for every ability, in a range of styles from hip-hop through to ballet and contemporary, as well as a series of motivational top-ups.
World-class companies based in East London, Avant Garde Dance Company, West Ham United Foundation and The Lily Jo Project have teamed up in an effort to get East London’s Young people moving.
Our objectives are to promote healthy and active exercise; to motivate students during what may be an emotionally challenging time, potentially inspire a new or hidden passion, to offer extended social support with a focus on mindfulness during each session and to give the students a safe space to express themselves physically with a sense of release.
This exciting new programme offers something fresh and engaging for students, to promote a healthy mind and body through fitness, football, and dance. It’s easy to access for teachers and students alike.
“It was a pleasure to be a part of this project. Filming these sessions allows us to be able to reach and share our workshop series with the wider community. I am very excited to share my process and hope to inspire young dancers along the way.” — Rebecca BG
